Telepresence System- A Video Conferencing Technology

Telepresence is a kind of video conferencing technology bringing all the people taking part in the videoconference to life in a single room even when they are miles apart. For telepresence system, we require a wide angle video camera, network connectivity using high definition LCD screen and microphones. With the use of telepresence technology, the people can communicate with each other making eye contact and observing body language of other participants at the same time. As in the simpler technologies used like video conference system using desktop, in which the participants were supposed to sit before web cam so that they can be seen by the other person, there is no such requirement in telepresence system. Telepresence technology allows person to be seen by the person on the other end no matter where he is sitting in the room.

If in the conference room, we place LCD screens in place of the conference chairs, you will not be able to notice that people are not actually present there physically. The experience is much like real life that while turning your head to the screens and making eye contact will make you feel as if you are talking to the actual person sitting there.
